Emmy's first Christmas
This was a very different Christmas for us than we've ever had before. The biggest difference, of course, is that we had Emmy with us this year. Having a kid makes Christmas so much for fun. It'll be even more fun when she grasps the concept of presents! Unfortunately, Ryan had to work on Christmas, but we managed to have some fun on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning before he left for his shift.
On Christmas Eve, Chris and Angela invited us to go with them to Peacock Lane, a Portland neighborhood that is known for decking out their houses in Christmas lights. Before we went, we got some Starbucks, and bundled Emmy up in her stroller. Peacock Lane wasn't nearly as impressive as we were hoping, but it was still fun.
Christmas morning, Emmy and Ryan slept in until about 10am. I got up early and got things ready for the Christmas brunch we were hosting. By noon we had a houseful of people and enjoyed lots of yummy food with great company.
After everyone left, Ryan, Emmy, Misha and I opened presents! Emmy wasn't super stoked about her gifts this year, but she did enjoy the wrapping paper. :)
Ryan had to leave for work early in the afternoon. Luckily, some friends of ours, Antonio and Vashti, were having some people over and they invited Emmy and I too so we didn't have to spend Christmas alone. It's so nice to have good friends here for us when we can't be with our families!
Later on when Emmy and I got home, we snuggled up and watched a movie until it was time for bed.
Overall a good Christmas, but we're really hoping that next year we'll be able to spend the holiday with our families whom we missed dearly!
